Open-Source Typeface
Hari Mono.
A monospaced typeface for terminals and code editors, built with Iosevka and shaped in the spirit of Berkeley Mono. Released by Zorinto under the SIL Open Font Licence 1.1.
Live specimen
Rendered directly with the self-hosted WOFF2 files. Edit the text below to test your own code.
Four styles
Hari Mono ships in Regular, Bold, Italic and Bold Italic. The italics are 9.4 degree slanted romans rather than cursive forms, so every character keeps its upright silhouette.
Regular
Weight 400 · Upright · 600 units
Aa Bb Cc Gg 0O 1lI {[()]}
const verify = (input: Uint8Array): boolean => input.byteLength > 0;
Bold
Weight 700 · Upright · 600 units
Aa Bb Cc Gg 0O 1lI {[()]}
SELECT account_id, SUM(amount_gbp) AS total FROM ledger GROUP BY 1;
Italic
Weight 400 · 9.4° slanted roman · 600 units
Aa Bb Cc Gg 0O 1lI {[()]}
// Upright letter shapes carry over at 9.4 degrees so code reads the same.
Bold Italic
Weight 700 · 9.4° slanted roman · 600 units
Aa Bb Cc Gg 0O 1lI {[()]}

What it looks like
Designed for long sessions in terminal multiplexers, code editors and log viewers.
Wide, even 600-unit cell
Each character sits in a 600-unit cell (x-height 520, cap height 690, ascender 740, leading 1250), giving code and dense terminal output a calm, generous rhythm.
Unambiguous character pairs
Lookalike glyphs are separated clearly: a dotted zero, distinct shapes for 1, l and I, square dots on i, j and punctuation, a single-storey g and a flat-topped 3.
Zero ligatures
Built with noLigation and noCvSs enabled. Multi-character operators stay strictly as individual characters so cursor movement and column alignment never surprise you.
True terminal spacing
Compiled with Iosevka term spacing so box-drawing characters, pipes, block elements and arrows meet cleanly across rows and columns.
How it was made
Hari Mono starts from the glyph choices and metrics of Ioskeley Mono on top of Iosevka 34.9.0, then refines every printable ASCII character and symbol through a reproducible build pipeline:
01 · Glyph selection
Scored and chosen by eye
Every printable ASCII character was compared at large size against a reference proportion target. Each Iosevka variant was scored for closeness, and the final pick was made by eye where geometric scores disagreed with reading comfort.
02 · Donor symbol fit
17 fitted symbols, unscaled strokes
Iosevka cannot set individual symbol sizes independently. Our build compiles a second width-500 donor plan, and postprocess.py fits 17 brackets and operators to the exact bounding boxes in data/symbol-fit.json (symbolMid = 313) so narrower symbols keep the exact stroke weight of the letters.
03 · Verification
OTS-validated release builds
Post-processing clears repeated OVERLAP_SIMPLE contour flags, runs ttfautohint for Windows, builds WOFF2 and Nerd Fonts v3.5.1 sets, and checks all 16 output binaries with OpenType Sanitizer. Every outline is Iosevka's own.
