Next.js & React

Next.js & React development — UK

We design and build fast, maintainable React applications with Next.js — SaaS frontends, dashboards, storefronts and headless CMS builds. Senior engineers, fixed-price scoping, and honest advice on when Next.js is the right tool (and when it isn't).

What we build with Next.js & React

The React engagements we run most often for UK clients — from single-page dashboards to full products.

Marketing sites & storefronts

Fast, SEO-sound Next.js sites and e-commerce storefronts with server rendering, structured data and Core Web Vitals treated as launch criteria, not an afterthought.

SaaS frontends

Customer-facing product UIs with authentication, subscription billing, team workspaces and onboarding flows — built on a component system your team can extend.

Dashboards & internal tools

Data-heavy admin panels, reporting dashboards and operations tooling with tables, charts, filters and exports that stay responsive at real data volumes.

API-backed apps

React frontends on top of your existing backend — REST or GraphQL — with typed API clients, sensible caching and optimistic updates where they earn their keep.

Headless CMS builds

Next.js frontends on Sanity, Contentful, Storyblok or headless WordPress, with live preview and editorial workflows your content team will actually use.

Migrations from legacy React & CRA

Incremental moves from Create React App, ejected Webpack builds and ageing SPAs to modern Next.js — stabilise first, migrate route by route, keep shipping throughout.

Next.js, React — or Astro?

We recommend the tool, not the trend

Because we deliver Astro sites, Next.js products and fullcustom software under one roof, our recommendation is driven by your requirements — not by the one framework we happen to sell. A surprising number of “we need a React app” conversations end with a faster, cheaper content site; a fair few “simple website” briefs turn out to be products. Either way, you will get a straight answer in the first call.

For a working example of our React work at production scale, seeOfyse — a multi-tenant SaaS with a keyboard-first React 19 interface, command palette and no full-page reloads.

Choose Astro for content and marketing sites

Company sites, blogs, landing pages and documentation rarely need a client-side framework. Astro ships near-zero JavaScript, scores better on Core Web Vitals and costs less to host and maintain.

Choose Next.js for app-like products

Logins, dashboards, real-time data, complex forms and multi-step workflows are where React earns its complexity. Next.js adds routing, server rendering and API routes on a foundation the ecosystem has standardised on.

Sometimes React without Next.js is right

When the backend is the product — Laravel or Rails doing the heavy lifting — a React frontend via Inertia is often simpler than running a separate Next.js app. We build that stack too.

How we deliver

A sprint-based process that keeps scope fixed, feedback frequent and releases boring — in the good way.

Discovery & technical spec

We map user flows, data sources and integrations, then decide the rendering strategy per route — static, server-rendered or client-side. You get a fixed-scope plan and a confident quote.

Design system & core screens

We build the component library first — typography, forms, tables, states — then assemble the highest-value screens from it. Consistency is designed in, not patched on later.

Sprint build with preview deploys

Two-week sprints, a demo every sprint, and a preview URL for every change so stakeholders review the real product in the browser — not screenshots in a deck.

Hardening & launch

Automated tests on critical paths, accessibility checks, Core Web Vitals budgets, SEO plumbing, error tracking and analytics — all in place before go-live, not after.

Support & iteration

Monthly retainers cover React and Next.js upgrades, dependency security patches, performance work and a steady stream of improvements once real users arrive.

Next.js & React development FAQs

The questions UK clients ask us most often before starting a React project.

How much does Next.js development cost?

Frontend-focused Next.js builds — a marketing site with app-like sections, a storefront, or a dashboard on top of your existing API — start from £8,000. Full-stack Next.js products with authentication, billing and a database typically fall in the £18,000–£45,000 custom-software MVP range. Every engagement is scoped and fixed-priced after a short discovery, so you know the number before we write code. See our pricing page for the full breakdown across services.

Next.js or Astro — which should I choose?

If the site is mostly content — marketing pages, blog, docs, landing pages — Astro ships less JavaScript, loads faster and costs less to run, so we will usually recommend it. If users log in, manipulate data and expect an app-like experience, Next.js is the stronger fit. We build both, so our recommendation is based on your product, not on the only tool we know.

Can you take over an existing React or Create React App codebase?

Yes. We regularly inherit React codebases — from abandoned Create React App projects to sprawling SPAs with performance problems. We start with a short audit, stabilise the build and dependency tree, then migrate incrementally to Next.js or Vite rather than pitching a big-bang rewrite.

How long does a Next.js project take?

A frontend build on an existing API typically ships in 4 to 8 weeks. A full-stack product with auth, billing and admin tooling usually runs 8 to 16 weeks. We work in two-week sprints with a preview deployment from the first week, so you see real progress rather than status reports.

Where do you host Next.js apps, and do you provide ongoing support?

We deploy to Vercel, Cloudflare or a self-hosted Node environment depending on your budget, data-residency needs and traffic profile — and we hand over full ownership of every account. Ongoing support retainers cover React and Next.js version upgrades, dependency security patches, performance work and new features, cancellable with 30 days notice.
